The exhaust manifold on daughters TD5 Disco has warped and snapped two studs.Got the manifold off and I’m going have it skimmed at work. Looking to get new studs are the Wurth HDuty studs any good? Are they a bigger O/D and that means I have to drill and tap head stud holes to bigger size?

I'd only bother if they were cheaper than genuine parts, should be same diameter though, never heard of anyone having to drill an tap to fit them.

Same fitment as standard and much higher quality. Also longer so you can fit thicker larger washers which should help reduce the issue happening again.

Also worth dewebbing the manifold

If you can get it skimmed cheap at work, go for the inner 3 a few thou under .... because you cant bend that cast back to the head correctly...

The manifolds warp because the castings are still green when put into service, then cure and warp in service, hence why not all TD5 engines suffer from it...

I’m going to dewebb it I’ve got coarse debur cutters for my die grinder which should make short work of the webs. I’m also going make thick spacer washers to go on the studs. Would stainless steel be ok or just mild steel?
