hi i dont know weather my 2001 dhse is getting good or bad mpg i get 18mpg around town and 21/24 on a run is this good or not :confused:my last p38 was much better but it was chiped and that was doing 21mpg around town and high 20s on a run.......wot dose yours do:) and is it standerd or not...thanks for your help and info:blabla:

This is what I'm getting on my '98DSE:

For the last 3.526km I used 471.30 lts of diesel. This translates to 2190 (imperial) miles done with 103.60 (UK) gallons, giving an average of 21.14 mpg.

My best "tank" was 302 miles with 13.4 gallons which is around 22.5mpg.

Am I correct assuming that when you UK folks talk about mpg you're using imperial (and not US) units ? This would explain why I was convinced that my car was returning around 18mpg when it's really more like 22-23mpg :clap2::clap2::clap2:

hi you are correct about units and imperial. and thanks for takeing the time to let me know about your mpg.. going by wot you have said mine could be a bit better but is not that bad thanks for your time:)

It so depends on how light footed you can be on the gas pedal and how hilly the places are where you drive.I can get 24 mpg around town but i have to say it ts agony driving like that. On a long run at around 67 mph on cruise i am not far off 30 mpg.

About the same as 362bkr! Last time I really checked a run, Reading to Galway (465 miles) + about 100 miles once I got there on one tank = approx 28mpg overall

thanks mate.. i do drive a bit fast. but even when trying i dont get no where near 30mpg 24mpg at best so i think something must be wrong i hope a quick service will make it do better mpg and i should give my cruse control a go as iv never used it and that might help:D

i see your point and i did think long and hard about getting a petrol one:confused: the way i was thinking is the money i would of saved by getting a petrol . would help to cover the cost of the fule bill.. i paid top money for my dhse and could of brought the same petrol hse for £2000 less and the petrol range rover comes with a few more bits and bobs. but in the end i got the disel witch is slow. but a chip or power box will sorts that and will make it just as quick as a 4.0l petrol.. and it still makes good mpg.im not complaining im just shocked at wot other people are getting from there cars. the best iv had out of this p38 is 18mpg and 24mpg on a run. im not to bothered about my fule bills there my only vice. i have a car that will kill £20 petrol in less then 20 min.i just think my p38 needs a good service by the sound of it:cool:

Yeah Jamie lad but the government need your cash from fuel to halt global warming. Which causes all manner of nasty things. We don't want to be like the Italians having to make pasta by hand because a drought in the thirties killed all the spaghetti trees.:D:D:D

98 2.5 DSE. 79K Miles

Went from Stoke on Trent area to Cambridge (A50, M1 and A14) and back towing a twin axle plant trailer (Middle size) last saturday. With the cruise control set at just under 65mph and used where possible, neck to neck I got 19.6mpg. Coming back the trailer had a bike on it.

Around home without trailer but hilly I get about 21 to 22 mpg.
