Okay - so its been a few weeks since I last asked about this but I've just this weekend been able to have a look at it.

I have a TD5 that has a bit of a cluck when taking up or off drive train tension. After some helpful suggestions I think its a worn spline on the transmission.

So I pulled off the inspection plate and had a look. Here is what I found:

I also noticed some copper looking filings in the oil when I removed the inspection plate. My thought was to replace the oil but wondering now if I have to replace the whole thing. Is this amount of play normal or is it really the spline that is gone? Any thoughts?

pull the gear out and look at splines ,td5 should be cross drilled so unusual with worn

That sound's more like backlash on the tfer box gear's, there will be more backlash with the pto bearing support off as the shaft is then not supported.
Put it back together but leave off the cover plate, you can the shine a torch down the end of the shaft and see how much play there is,I would say from your vid it will be minimal and not the cause of your clunk.
As James says above unusual for wear on the x drilled ones, but on the other hand Ive seen some very sorry non x drilled examples.
