Hi, As some may know I was 17 yesterday and aftrer a 2 hour driving lesson in a Yaris 1.4 vvti, I went home and drove my 2a on a 70 mile trip out!, Went brilliantly and I never left the wheel..
Well the gearbox is noisey and has a major oil leak.. I will not fix this as I know the hastle what came last time when my first Series needed its gaskets and seals changing.. it ended up in a complete rebuild costing £150-£200 and took months for me to do!. So ill let this box go bang when it does and swap for my other box which I did up..
Also the Speedo doesnt work even thought it has a new cable so that wants a play..
Main problem is the steering.. the landrover doesnt like to keep its front wheels straight its a bit left to right and theres some play in the steering obviously it wont handle like a modern car, but at speed it feels dangerous!. So Im guessing I need to adjust the steering box, Can anyone tell me how to do this?. Also thinking of fitting a steering damper as the roads around here are pretty rough and it might help the wooly steering?.
So any ideas or suggestions?. The linkages are all tight and joints are fine.. Although its suicidal at speed!
many thanks.. Matt
