Hi
I have a 2008 3.6 TDV8 automatic and if i leave it for a couple of days it sometimes wont start unless i shake the gear stick and then it starts straight away . Is this a common fault that is a easy fix or do i need to get a specialist to look at it .

You doing the night feeds ,Ant?
No....thankfully he is on the boob, all I have to do is what comes out the other end.....I always get that end of the bargain!

The fix may be as simple as lubricating the gearshift cable clamp bolt which sometimes becomes so corroded that it will no longer articulate in the hole in the selector lever (necessary because the cable moves linearly and the lever through an arc). This causes the gear lever position and the selector lever position to get out of sync, and also therefore the inhibitor switch. Worth trying first, anyway, as it won’t cost you anything.
