hi, i own a 2003 frelander 1.8 petrol

the starter won't turn. the fuse are ok.
when i shunt the starter it turn but with the key : nothing.

any idee?

thanks.

if its fancy lectronics i int gort a clue but if you've just done the head you may have disturbed the earth, so it would be worth checking that

Should have 2 live wires,
1 a large permanent live feed from battery
2 an ignition live when cranking, as said the small cranking wire poss trapped, get a test light and check its live whilst somebody cranks the key, If no live its a feed problem down the small wire

I disconnected the wire of the solenoid and measured the tension by actuating the ignition key. my tester gives me 11,8 V  ,

I think that it is a little weak. it is odd the indicator of the battery is however green.

I put the battery in load and I will test again tomorrow.

thank you for you reply.

Sounds like the little wire got knocked off the starter or nicked under the new head ....

Yeah pretty much as the man said, check the spade connector on the negative wire.

Give it a clean and try again, dont be surprised if you park up to do the shopping and come back out to find the same problem. They are notorious for working themselves loose

I replugged the battery this evening after having charged it but that still does not go.
I now will check the ground.

thanks

I found! it was the large fuse 150A which was roasted. I made a short-circuit by dismounting the leg of the alternator during disassembling.:)
