Lately if I have gone through large puddles or small streams in my 2005 defender, afterwards for a day or so it won't start, it takes numerous attempts, turning the key does nothing, then maybe after 6, 7 times I get lucky and it turns over...

Anyone have any ideas what it could be and were the waters getting in to do this??

Have a look in your battery box. The ecu is in there so it is probably getting wet

Or its a connection to the starter motor which is wet

What he said ^^^^^^^^^.

Wiggle the fly lead (small spade connection) on the starter motor and all should be well again.
