Hi all looking for advice as I’m scratching my head. You have the v6 I was getting a rumbeling and a vibration between 60mph and 70 mph removed the propshat and it disappeared. I Bourget new prop bearings and re fitted the propshaft no difference so removed the prop shaft and have left it off. A dealer said it was driveshafts so I ordered a pair and fitted them replaced the prop the vibration was back so again removed the prop shaft. However since fitting the new drive shafts I have a wobble whe. Accelerating that I feel through the seats and floor but not through the steering. I have had the tyres moved front to back etc no difference also notince whe. I get to around 85 mph then I get a severe vibration. When I changed the driveshafts I changed the oil in the ird the first drop of oil out was silver grey but the rest of the oil was normal. No pieces of metal on the drain plug. So I am at a loss as to what it can be. Thank you in advance to anyone who might be able to help. Ps all ball joints track rod ends and wheel bearings are solid.

If you didn't buy OEM drive shafts, then they are more than likely faulty.

Many people have bought new drive shafts just to find they are worse than the old ones.

So the driveshafts aren't genuine or OE (GKN) shafts then. Aftermarket shafts cause this problem, especially if the lower tie bar bush has failed.

Hi Nordge yeah they are aftermarket driveshafts Britpart it’s all I could afford at the moment I had no wheel wobble before changing them just at high speed. The reason I changed the shafts was because I had a vibration between 50 and 6mph with the propshaft fitted when I took the propshaft of the vibration went a landrover specialist said the problem was the driveshafts so hence I changed them however changing the driveshafts and refitting the prop with new prop bearing still gave the vibration at 50mph this is driving me nuts thanks for you time

This "specialist" isn't a specialist or they wouldn't have suggested the driveshafts, if the vibration went after the propshafts were removed. It's obviously a problem with the propshafts, not the driveshafts.

The current non OE shafts are now damaging the output bearings of the gearbox and IRD.

I suggest you go back to this clueless "specialist" and ask them to refit your original and perfectly serviceable driveshafts.

Or get some new OE (GKN) or original LR shafts. Not doing so is going to cost a lot more to fix, when the output bearings fail.
