I have a 1989 Ninety, in the process of fitting a centre console, and I want to get rid of the switches that control the dash/interior light/hazard by my right knee.

Am I ok to just solder a new feed from the headlight switch and connect it to the wire that switches the dash lights on? That way, the dash will illuminate when I turn on the side lights. Wondering if that is the best way to do it? Won't overload any wires/fuses etc?
Thanks

If you want to get rid of the switch why don’t you just solder the switch wires together or put a jumper cable between the relevant pins and remove the switch. The dash lights already come on with the side lights. The switch just gives the option to turn them off. Doing it this way you don’t cut up the dash wiring, and the circuit remains as intended but you have just removed the switch with the option to turn the dash illumination off?

To move the hazards to the centre console you would need to expend the wiring into the centre but that is easy enough to do.
