WIPER BOXES AND CABLE RENEWAL.
Ah needed to change my wiper boxes as theyve been playin up a bit. Also thought it a good idea to change the cable while Ah was at it.
Heres how ah did it
First ah removed the wee cover on the grab handle, removed the screw behind it, removed the wee screw on the bottom and removed the handle .
then went to the other side and removed the instrument panel and heater vent controls
then removed the three large screws and the vent trims on the top dash and the two screws from under the top dash ..
before removin the top dash .
Then ah removed the speedo cable to let me move the instrument panel out of the way a bit more ..
Ah had to remove the heater fan control switch to let me get at the two screws holdin the vent on and removed the vent to let me see the wiper wheel box ..
Next ah removed the wiper arm, the thing it fits on, the rubber boot, the nut and washer (did the same on the other wiper)
back inside, ah removed the the two nuts holdin the box back plate on, removed the wee end tube and then with a bit of wigglin about ah got the wheel box out ..
then ah took the back of the other wiper box .
Before ah could take the box out ah had to remove the wiper motor cover. Ah removed the screw from the side, the two below and the wee one on the trim to show the wiper motor ..
then ah slackened the top screw on the motor bracket and removed the bottom one, unclipped the wirin plug and earth strap and then pulled the motor and cable out which let me remove the wheel box
Once the motor was out ah slackened the big nut, removed the 4 bolts, removed the cover plate, removed the circlip, removed a washer then removed the arm along with the cable (be careful as theres another washer under the arm) .
Once the old cable was out, ah rubbed plenty of grease onto the new cable and stuck it all back together again .
Then its just a case of stickin some grease in the new wiper boxes and refittin them, threadin the new cable in, fittin the wiper motor and pluggin the wires back in
It would be a very good idea at this point to check everything works as it should!
When ah was happy with everything, it was just a case of stickin the dash back together .
Thats it, job done
