.Evening all,had to scrape ice from windows twice this week,what type of de-icer do you use?.I think trigger pumps are easier to use though rather than aerosols especially in the cold.Maybe premature but thought it best to prepare,also I think my Goodyear Wrangler HP(195/80/R15) tyres would be best replaced by the end of the year,decided to go for these :Search by tyre size.Anybody using these on their freelander,what tyre pressures are recommended?,I recall seeing somewhere to add an extra 6psi if using BFGoodrich tyres.Strictly road going so should I just stick to Wranglers/Synchrones instead?.

Yer need ta get it in a garage ASAP if the doors get wet and it freezes when they fall off they'll shatter.

Would a pikey steal a R770 in finest freelander beige?.Survived so far in the eastend of Glasgow,parked in the street no less!..No point tempting fate or thieves..

my preferred method is to make a cup of tea just before you leave the house. Sit in your freelander with the engine running waiting for the engine to warm up while you drink the tea, then when the windscreen is clear, away you go !

on a serious note, be careful which one you buy. some of the cheaper ones are not good for the vehicle body work, and can lift the wax off, leaving a dull patch.

If I have time, I run a jug of warm (not boiling) water over the screen and then use the wipers. I used to fill the jug during my morning shower/bath and it was still hot enough to the job.

Prefer using warm water to deicer as the latter makes the interior even colder.

Cold water straight from the tap in a jug is generally good enough. You want to be careful putting warm or hot water on frozen glass as it can cause cracks. Pour the cold water on and then get the wipers going if it's really cold so it doesn't re-freeze!

Definatley, HOT water can do this, though you should be safe with warm. I think you would certainly be at most risk if you used BOILING water from the kettle or had chips, scratches or cracks in the glass already.
