I run my Defender on two sets of tyres, summer road tyre and winter 7.50 x 16 AT.
I only run the winter tyre in case of snow, i feel that a 7.50 x 16 will cut into the snow better than say a 265 and thus give better grip.

I agree, I've just put 205's on the front of the Disco, same chunky tread pattern as the 235 Wranglers on the back and same rolling radious but slimmer, it steers better already and dont follow the ruts like it did.
