After nursing a clunky drivers window for a couple of weeks, (more urgent jobs have taken priority) it's finally given up and the cog has fallen off. I noticed it's held on with 3 spot welds. Would it be possible to drill where the spot welds are, and use 3 pan-head self tappers to screw them back together, grinding them flush afterwards? ( the protruding screw ends, not the heads) Is there enough clearance to do so?

Probably let go because of the wear and strain of the rest of it. New ones are only cheap and easy enough to do.

Yeah, I had a look and you can pick them up for £15 to £20. Not worth the hassle of fixing.
