Hi I've just fitted a Champion Winch 9500 onto my Disco 1. The rating says it requires up to a 330amp fuse for it to run. this isnt a problem as I've fitted a inline fuse for this. But dont know if its the norm to fit another battery to handle the winch, or if it can run off the existing battery. I've had some advice from an auto electrician friend, but wanted to check what everybody else does. Any input is very welcome. Thanks

It is advisable and more reliable to run it of of an auxiliary battery through a split charger that isolates your start battery.
It can run of the existing battery but you want to put an isolator switch on the positive feed so the solinoed dose not kill your Battery. It also helps to have a deep cycle battery, less chance off Fooking it under heavy load or killing it from discharge and recharge.

I have mine on the aux battery.. the aux gets its power from a t-max split charger, that can ether isolate the aux or tie them together.

Mine is on a second battery with T-Max split charge system. Look on 'tinkering with my vogue' thread and you will see wiring and fitting into a rrc. The second battery is so big as it is a tractor battery!!

Any more info just ask.
