Hey all,
So I bought a capstan for my S3 last year and it came with a great long length of 1" manilla rope that I didn't give a lot of thought to and just assumed that's what they're used with.
Turns out not so much, it works perfectly fine as long as your paying attention but I really would love to add a block to change the direction of pull but try as I might a block to take a 1" rope isn't really that common.
Anyone know where such a beast can be obtained without spending more than the truck cost me and weighing a similar amount?

I'd go to either a place that sells stuff to trawlers/other fishing boats, or to a lifting gear specialist.

You could go to a heavy wreckers and ask if they have an old one they would be willing to sell you? I can tell you that new snatch blocks for a 25mm rope will set you back between £150 ~ £300 brand new of course!

Other option is to have one made?

I just bought a new Arbil 6T snatch block to add to my collection and it is little more than two pieces of 4mm flat plate with a pulley sheath in the middle held in place with circlips, that could be turned up on a lathe for very little money I would guess and might be a cheaper option? Ask a local machinist if they could help.
