If it's a TD5 it's a TD5, BUT beware the turbo arrangement is quite different, and there may be heaps of other changes.

If it was just the bare Disco td5 head, and all the Defender bolt-on bits, you will probably manage to make it go.

As CharlesY says I would expect it to fit.
Use what you need off your old head.
Dont forget to get some later steel location dowels instead of the nylon ones.

Maybe he can get the Disco one cheap ?????
I know of a good 2001 TD5 Disco going for £1800 ono.
I was quoted £2400 for a new TD5 Defender head from Land Rover.
Funny thing is if you ask for a Disco one of the same year LR quote £2000. ???????

Been looking at one on the bay for a couple of hundred.Thinking of having a go.................
