Hey chaps,

Dads Range Rover has developed a problem - 2007 L322 RR V - recently havent been able to lock or unlock the car reliably. Press the key button nothing happens then maybe after trying for some time it will lock but same issue to unlock, often wont lock at all.

To add to the strangeness the internal lock button is also intermittent. Sometimes it works sometimes it does, but when it does for some reason putting it in reverse driving a touch then forward again gets the internal lock button to work.

Key also does nothing when used in the door lock, turns both ways but does nothing. No resistance felt.

Rang LR garage they don't know suggested the key but that doesnt explain the internal lock button being intermittent.

Also only got one key to try, one got lost some time ago.

Any help would be great!

I would get another key fob sorted and programmed and go from there.
No point starting to chuck money at things if it's just down to a dodgy key/fob.
You really need a spare anyway IMO TBH.....

Do the windows work? I've seen the wiring in the door gaps corroded out and doing all sorts of funny things like you have said. The one I had would not lock or unlock the internal lock button inop windows not working. If I remember right it's the link wire that joins the door modules together.

Cheers guys. All the windows work perfectly, the whole care works perfectly. HDC did come on seemingly by itself the other day but im pretty sure that was down to me mum messing with the air suspension.

Righto Ill get a new key and see whats what

I would seriously be looking for corroded wires in the door jams. The key has nothing to do with the internal lock button, you also say that the key in the door doesn't do anything and no resistant is felt.

The key just transmit a signal to the antenna in the car which in turn send a signal to the doors with the request to lock or unlock, in basic terms.

It only take 10 mins to check the door jam harness connectors, if they are OK then try a key, but I'd be looking be for cheaper way first.

If you lock or via with the key in the door does it lock or unlock the car

Key in the door does nothing which baffels me.

Havnt checked the jam harness yet, been busy with my 90

Hi.

I realise this post is from a while ago but I've got exactly the same issue with my old girl. Did you get her fixed in the end at all please? If so, what did you do? :)

I did eventually. Few people suggested the key was damaged so being the cheapest option we got a new key and had it programmed. Works fine now, old key still starts the car but will not lock it or unlock it!
