Hi, i could not resist it anymore... i used to have a 98 Disco 300TDI but had to sell it 3 years ago.... now due to a life style change and doing low mileage i have picked up a 97 Disco 300 tdi auto.... the wife hates it... it lollops, rolls and makes her feel sick.... GOOD, she wont drive it..;)
Anyway not being too sharp i bgt it and it has a judder/rattle at slow speed...reverse or forward, this goes but reappears about 37mph... any thoughts anyone??? i wonder if its the prop shaft??? also interior lining is saggy and coming away, any easy ways to restick it????

Cheers all and happy to be back in the landy gang again..

The Disco 300tdi auto ( with no ABS, airbags or sunroofs) is quite simply the best car ever made.
Get underneath it and give your UJ's a good shake and twist. If you find any slack replace them. If they seem ok, grease them.
Check the rear doughnut rubber UJ excuse thing for cracks and if it has any replace it.

Welcome, headlining is a usual problem, might be worth putting a little glue on the clips that hold it up, that's what I'm thinking of doing on mine.

Rattle vibration I'd put down to UJs

HI gents, well the rattle turns out to be the central exhaust box knocking against the chassis.... looks like it was replaced a little while ago and was push too close to one of the thin triangular metal strips on the chassis. a temporary fix, thin piece of rubber insulation slid over the part of the chassis that it was hitting against.
I did have a wiggle of the prop shafts, the rear one is solid, no movement at all on the UJs or the spline?? the front one did move a lot but not the UJ's themselves, the hole shaft moved maybe a 1/32nd of a turn... is that usual???

Another oddity has surfaced, the oil light came on so i topped it up but did not check the level, i checked the level this evening and it was about 1/2 inch above the max line..... when testing the rattle from the exhaust the oil light came on again??? strange??

Cheers and thanks for the advice
