Humour me eBay Truck Cab

Obviously photos can hide a thousand issues but on the face of it this look OK - as a novice looking for something as a "bit of fun" that will get to/from the tip, around town, plus 20 miles each way to/from work when the mood/weather suits, what would I gain from spending a lot more on a 200/300/TD5?

Cheap compared to what most 90's seem to be going for on the mainstream sites unless you're bloody lucky and "know someone who has one for sale".

Looks good to me including price. I always get suspicious when paintwork is too nice. I would get dirty underneath to re assure myself but if if you are too cynical you will never get a bargain so it might just be good. Warranty ?

That does look good. Although a clean paintjob doesn't mean it's going to be a good'un, it does have a long MOT, and if those miles are genuine, even better!

He either doesn't know what he's got, or he knows it's a dog and is wanting to get rid

It'll be gone before I'd have chance to even go look, so perhaps it was more of a general question as, until now, I'd only really considered the 200/300 tdi engined models - but I admit that I have no real idea why I'd ruled out the earlier vehicles.

Probably because the 2.5 td (19j) engine is a bit of a turd. There aren't many good ones left, most have blown up or are about to. In truth you'd be better sticking to a 200/300 tdi, but there's nothing stopping you from throwing one into that 90 once the TD finally gives up the ghost. It's still cheap.

i got a d-reg 200tdi off ebay for £925. its dented and old. but just to give you an idea. that seems like alot of money to me!
