Since I had a half day today I decided to go down to my local scrappy to see if there are any freelanders,

It must have been fate, as I walked in there was a lovely freelander right by the entrance!

It had the light gaurds I wanted ( unfortunalty 1 rear one was broken), and in the back seat was a brand new set of Landrover roof bars!!

After carefully removing the light gaurds I spoke to the man and all he wanted was £36 for the lot!

Bargain!!!

All I need to do now is clean up the light gaurds ( maybe spray them black because they are a bit faded)

What a good day so far!

Looking for £25

How do scrap yards operate? I've only been to one and they kept the gate locked and wanted to lock me in afterwards so i never went in. I was looking for a gearbox many years ago. What's the process. Do you wonder round and collect what you want and pay for it or do you have to ask for the parts and then remove them or do they remove them? Could you take say the clutch off the air con compressor or would you need to buy the whole compressor with the clutch?

You used to be able to wander round and come out with your pockets and tool box full of bulbs, fuses, switches and relays, whilst you paid for the one bit that you admitted to - allegedly. However a lot went all H&S and kept you at the gate whilst they fetched what you asked for, on the third or fourth attempt!

I don't know what happens now as most around here now seem to be crushing everything quickly for the metal and selling the few bits that are worth it on the net.

theres a couple round me and 1 will take you to part and take off the part u point to lol and the other one will let you do it all and u payfor what u take or u can pay them a little extra for them to do the work (dnt mind paying them when its snowing or ****ing down lol)

There are two freelanders at Harry Bucklands in Gloucester if anyone is interested, one is a V6, the other is a petrol. It is a remove it yourself scrapyard and dirt cheap.

Quick question

I forgot to take the screws for the rear light gaurds, anyone know where I can get some that will fit?
The original light ones are too short!
