Hi. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me with this but why would my number plate lights be on all the time? No tail lights are on. Is it some kind of warning if the tailgate is open? I cant find a switch that would activate it. Thanks.

It looks like these lights are activated direct from the BECM, there shouldn't be a switch. Except of course the headlamp switch, and this should turn them on!

I suspect it's a bad earth or a short of some kind. Here is the circuit, should be pretty easy to check with a multimeter.

If you've got 12v of pin 16 on connector C325 then the problem is with the BECM outputting voltage when it shouldn't, if you don't have 12v on that pin, then the problem is with the wires between the BECM and the bulbs.

Think I remember someone once saying something about them being related to the door locks?
Do they come on for a timed period when unlocked?
