aside from turners who I would love but cant afford who can I get a remanufactured engine from ? or who would rebuild mine properly ?

Assuming it's a V8 there's ACR or our sponsors Emmots have a top hat full engine on the bay for just over £2k.

There are a few who will do top hat linered blocks there was one company which will put top hats in your block for approx 900 quid for you to rebuild also emmotts do rebuilds I think with a guarantee

overheating and a lifter knock don't want to put a load of cash in to it and find out I need a new lump anyway

As the lifter knock could be a slipped liner

ummmm....only way to really check for liner is to take the head off. If it is a slipped liner then it may be worth getting your current block re-linered with top hats?

I used Turner Engineering and was glad I paid their price. They had fitted a new Land Rover supplied oil pump as part of the deal, the oil pump failed about four weeks ago, snapped the timing chain and bent some valves. Without any fuss, Turner Engineering put everything right at their cost, I cannot praise them highly enough.
