No not this time! Got a little damp when we did in February, it was a lot deeper then

my 4.0 P38 went swimming up to its door handles at bruntingthorpe last weekend, none came in, and no snorkel, just propped the k&n up so it was right up against the bonnet, was going through it all day never missed a beat... Did fill my alternator with substance similar to grinding paste... It didnt appreciate that!

Only minor modifications, home made snorkle, dizzy cap sealed with RTV silicon, plastic splash guard in front of dizzy, coil wrapped in a plastic bag, wading plug in gear box. I don't have a spoiler (steering guard gets in the way!).

What is a splash guard infront of the dizzy going to do when the water is that high? Surely it would be up to the dizzy and a splash guard fairly useless?

In properly deep water I would agree but when the water isn't well over the bonnet the splash guard helps to keep water thrown off the belts away from the dizzy cap, remember it is only a guard not a waterproofing measure but your point is well made.

Yeah I see what you are saying, in splashes it will help...hence calling it a "splash guard" and not a "wading guard" I guess hehe.
We are currently waterproofing one of our RRC V8...we are hoping it can quite happily wade about in water above the bonnet without any issues

let me know what you end up doing and if it works - I suppose the main problem is keeping the ECU dry.

I have found that from the point of view of underbonnet parts of the ign system that the coil top is the main item that requires waterproofing.
I have the ecu mounted inside the cab inside the cubby that is waterproof upto the top . The ign coil and amplifier that is under the bonnet is mounted in a sealed lexan box with grommets for the wires in and out,and a breather from this box and the dissy cap to the engine snorkle system . I have put a bead of rtv round the dissy cap bottom , and the plug leads are the 10mm with sealed ends . This has proved totally reliable when fording creeks and when travelling thru floods for kms at depths where the footwells have had 8" to 10" of water sitting in them . I tested the sytem by blasting using a pressure washer , not a miss

Yes Kev, you're talking to a person who has lived by the sea all of his life and seen the damage caused by salt water. It's a place in Spain called San Martin just north of Gibraltar. The rivers there are as a result of the fresh water coming down from the hills - with the end of the summer, there are no rivers as it's bone dry. In the winter the water would be 3 times higher than the car but there are other area's to go and the river(s) stretch for miles and there's also plenty of mud around. I run Club4x4gibraltar and we often have jaunts out that way. We're doin the mountains on tuesday, Morocco the end of the month (16 miles away on the ferry) and Morocco again in April. If anyone want's info or are in spain then let me know and we can meet up.
