i never wanted a land rover but i didnt have much choice. we've got 7 kids and a dog and theres not many cars big enough to take 9 people on a day out. all the poeple carriers have 7 or 8 seats and there was no way on this earth i was going to drive a transit minibus day in day out. so the only other option suggested to us was a defender 110. i was sure about spending £3,500 on a vehicle that i heard were "unreliable". so we read up on them as we knew nothing at all about them, looked at some for sale on ebay and in the auto trader. eventually we decided to bite the bullet and get 1. we bought the 1st 1 we looked at with the assistance of my friend on the phone telling me what to look for eg. rust on bulk head and chassis oil leaks, awkward to find gears etc... and it had none of these problems and so many extra bits. some1 had spent a lot of time and money on loads of off-road stuff such as steering guard. diff guard that covered the whole front axle, a big winch, roof rack with a tent and awning, a bar with spot lights, tread plates, light guards front and rear, spare wheel carrier that opend with the door, 2"lift kit, air assistance in the rear suspention, snorkel kit, window guards, exmoor seats front and rear, disc brakes on rear axle and other stuff too and it was a V8 with electronic ignition. so my friend advised me to buy it. it was an old '84 with the series type doors and it was the best thing ever. theres nothing quite like the feeling u get when driving a big old defender 300 miles or so all the way home doing upto 90 mph which shocked me as i always thought of them as being slow. the 1st time we took it off-road it was wet and icy and we decided find out what it could do so we took it up rivington as its pretty much in our back garden and wow i lived it the mrs not so much lol. well we now cant manage life with out our 110 and after it was stolen we were lost and upset. but now we've got another and we was happy again until some cock tried to nick it, couldnt so burned it but i wasnt about to lose another landy... so i rebuilt it, bigger, better and harded to nick/brake into. 3 years later we still got it. happy days

Not saying they get nicked a lot but I'm on my fourth landy and I only sold one.:mad::mad:

thems was watching out for ya. yu shud have shouted, they nevva saw ya - even when yu was behind em . :D

I was quite a long way behind em.;)

We were on the top of culver down. We'd passed the disco parked up in yaverland and then saw it pull away while we were still sat on top of the hill drinking tea. There was a white 110 parked 100yards down the road from where the green machine had been parked and it looked like they slowed down to have a butchers at it.:D

Boss remembers it well ;) - and yes they were looking for ya :D

We did contemplate stopping and sticking a chip fork under the wipers.:p:p:p

We thought we'd found them for a second time at Havenstreet station anorl but when we pulled in the carpark to have a closer look we found it was an imposter.:rolleyes::p
