Currently have a 3.5 V8 on SUs, following advice on here, i want to put a EFI unit on, approached a couple of local garages, not interested...
Anyone know anyone :)...

I can supply EFI heads and a manifold with injectors if wanted then you can swap it over yourself

You will need an ECU though and to fit an ECU plug back onto the wiring but the diagram is there with colours

I would have those off you, if i could find someone to install :), I just dont have the time with three kids under 6 and a full time job :(

Are you anywhere near Haslemere?

megasquirt-v8.co.uk

Talk to Nigel, he'll have everything you need and may want to throw it together for you :)

2nd that. Thoroughly nice bloke. Plus if you go round to his place you get to look at his absolute beast of a 90 with a monster under the bonnet!

That's not innuendo by the way, his truck is quite brilliant...

A carburetted 3.5 should be OK, they ran for years without the need for EFI, but changing emission requirements and the need for better fuel efficiency forced the who car industry to switch to injection. Now you'd be hard pushed to find a new car with a carb on it.

EFI always sounds alluring, but the early systems weren't that clever or that reliable, if it was me I'd stay with carbs.

Really??? I thought it would be a easy 30-40 bhp upgrade and also give easier starting (no mucking around with a choke etc...)

Carbs are good for 220BHP from a 3.5. Bro has in the past got close with 212BHP and stupid torque figures. Pulling away in 3rd gear

The Problem is Basic servicing or lack of. Then people think they can throw in a "piper" cam. How many people know what the cam is actually doing???? They all quote Piper and a BHP figure but nearly never does it actually work out.

Building an engine is a recepie get it all right you will have an amazing long lasting sorted engine. get it wrong and your be throwing money for BHP figures when the basics are not there.

P.S the 212 BHP engine was completly rebuilt plus many many needle changes and many a rolling road sessions. Same goes for megasquirt. lots of people do the basics and never actually tune them that well.

We have found Extra EFI a very nice guy and he uses another guy that knows his stuff. He would be a good guy to tune your engine. However if you have not got a good solid fully serviced engine then its all a bit pointless.

I have delt with megasquirtV8. Nigel is sound chap I have sold/swapped a few HD CWP from me but nothing to do with his V8EFI stuff. There is LOTS online about Megasquirt and alot of the guys seem to supply each other anyway. After attending the ExtraEFI open day I was sold on the tuning guy. I myself am running 3.5 on SU's absolutly std just rebuilt to a good condition. I have got MegaJolt waiting to be fitted just for the water proofless.

I wouldn't bother with EFI, my modded 3.9 runs on carbs beautifully and produces more power than the original EFI unit. Although it does have a piper cam, 10.5:1 heads, bigger carb jets, K&N filters and a modded exhaust.

Martin whats the specs? have youhad it rolling roaded?
It dynoed at 195bhp and 245 lb/ft. The top end difference isn't that much, but compared to the standard engine, the mid range torque and power are hugely different, peak power is at 4300 rpm and peak torque at 2400 rpm.

All I really want is someone to do this for me :), there seems to be so much home grown tuning, which is fine if you have the time etc, my V8 is very solid only 11k on it, it just lacks the punch I am looking for...

You are too far for me to fit it for you, BUT.... I'll give you all the EFi gubbins from one of my disco's as a straight swap for the carbs and manifolds? I'm going to convert that disco to 300tdi and use the v8 in a kit car. Alternatively if your willing to pay someone to do the conversion, put that money into fuel and I'll do the transplant for you just to get the carbs? Be advised though my workshop premises are in an AB42 postcode so I am along way up.... OR go with the general consensus at getting extra efi / megasquirt v8 to do the work I'll give you the bits as a swap?
