Hi
My 2004 TD4 manual has developed a whistle/whoosh noise on acceleration and also when I take my foot off the gas, I’ve check all the hoses (apart from the one out of the turbo) but no leaks or splits.
It runs fine, no smoke or ECU light.
Seems to be getting worse, by that I mean it seems to be starting sooner than it used to.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Have you checked the underside of the top driver's side 90° hose, it rubs through on a badly positioned bolt underneath the hose.

Yea checked that one, in fact I just fitted a new silicone hose which doesn’t rub.

The vac hoses can make odd noises. The one going the the EGR usually wears through but might be worth checking them all.

If you take off the turbo inlet rubber pipe, it's possible to grab the turbine & wiggle it to see if there's bearing play.

If it sounds like air pressure escaping, it probably is. Check all pressure hoses as a small split can open under pressure. Doesn't need a big split, just like when we whistle.
