Hello forum -

I seem to have a few gremlins in my newly aquired TD5, but I determined ;) to sort them out ASAP.

Now when the car is standing still or travelling at low speeds eg parking into driveway - I get a whining/grinding noise from the steering - BUT only happens when i turn right - OK when turning left.

ALSO - it does not happen when I am driving at normal speeds i.e going around a roundabout.

Now i have lied under the car, and got the Mrs to wobble the steering, BUT cannot pinpoint exactly where the noise is coming from - I have checked the fluids and teh Pump seems to be working fine as I can see from the ACE/PAS bottle.

Any ideas - I have ordered a new Drag Link bar and Steering Damper - as these are worn - But sureley these cant cause such a noise when stationery or at low speeds.

All help appreciated

Thank in advance - Lets see what happens next!!!!!

I'd be interested in what you find. I have the same issue in our S2 V8 - bought a couple of months ago. Had it on a lift and nothing seems worn. Bought at 113k now on 116k. I've put it down to the PAS pump and maybe air in their or even old fluid which is cavitating in the pump?

Got a Saab Aero to get back on the road after a head and clutch job before I'll get round to doing much with Digsby the Disco
