Hi, I'm new on here and in need of some help please, so here goes

I've not long had my land rover long, bought it as a bit of a project but also usable on the road however when I bought it, it had a whining noise that I just can't seem to get to the bottom off. This is what happens anyway.

When driving along it gets louder the faster I go put it into neutral still whines, put clutch in still whines, select neutral in the high low range and it goes quiet? Could this mean it is the transfer box? I have just drained the oil in it and replace it it was a bit dirty.

Just wondering what it could be? Could be be stuck in diff or anything like that

Thanks for your time

Go to the introduce your self section before the old guard turn up and have a bash on you,

Could be transmission noise,

Could be anything from wheel bearings to diffs, anything that turns really. Can you get it on 4 axle stands, get her in gear and then try to narrow it down.

Yes I will get it up on some one day in the week and give it a go thanks, hopefully it will not be something major. I was just wondering how the neutral of the hi and low box played a part in it

Hi thanks had the cover off the centre part and took it for a drive last night, sounds like it is defiantly coming from the transfer box. Off it comes this weekend then. Does anyone know where I can find a rebuild manual for the box?

Thanks again
