Hi All

I am toying with the idea of getting a winch for the front of my 90. I can't afford a new one so I'll be trawling the eBay pages for a used one.
Can anyone offer any advice as i'm new to all this, is there any thing I should be looking out for, sizes, types, faults, pitfalls etc?

I currently have a standard bumper and was thinking of altering that to make a winch bumper?

Thanks Guys
Tim

Personal thought go get a warn 8274 with a shadow winch bumper plasma rope and that will do the job apx £2500

Right now I have a superwinch husky and a winch bumper to fit it which has just been shot blasted, galvanized and powder coated satin black as it was to be used with a new winch I bought but unfortunately did not fit. If your interested you could make me an offer though I am in Carrickfergus!

Lol. Or a superwinch a britpart winch bumper and plasma rope for under £700 delivered to your door!

You can dramatically overspec a winch really easily. If you want something that's reliable and powerful enough to pull a 90 out of the **** then you don't need to spend massive cash!

However, I'd highly recommend Shadow winch bumpers!

That is right at the top of the world bugga that will cost 10 times more than its worth to send to the south coast

I would thing that eBay will be a good place to start a warn 9.5 ti will do the job for years if maintained and a standard winch bumper is good enough
Price should be around 5/600 if all are working well

I'll be honest if you would cover the cost of the bumper refurb (which if I remember wasn't much) and the cost of delivery of everything you can have the lot for that. The winch does need a refurb but I think it's something simple a quick recon should be fine as it was regularly maintained under contract.

Strooth mate £100 for a winch and a bumper how do you want the money

been there and done it with lower spec winches and not upto the job bumpers..my current 8274 runs off a separate 100amp alternator..in extreme winching offroad it is superb..
ive had superwinch epi9 and warn xd9000i ..and also cheap orange Chinese winches that claim big things but in reality are ok for light green laneing that's about it..if you want performance and reliability you gotta pay for it..buy cheap and you will definitely buy twice.
