My car is on 2" lift, done by the previus owner. As I do not use my car for off roading I think better to remove the lift in order to save the drive components (transfer box, prop shafts, stearing) from the extra stress.
I will need new front springs, and front, rear shock absorbers,
What dou you recommend, genuine ones or quality aftermarket like Bilstein? In case of genuine there are different sets (3) for different car set-ups (with ACE, no ACE, active ride susp...) but Bilstein has only one. Why it is important in case of genuine ones and why not in case of Bilstein?
Any other recommendation, make?
Thanks

A 2 inch lift won't cause those problems. You're fine.
I have already red several opinions about it, and yes, someone tells that it is still OK, but some people say that it shorten the life of the drive components. The other reason is why I'm thinking to modify it is that the police can penalize me (and even cancel my MOT) if he notices the modification (if he wants).

Not aware of that unless the mod rendered it unsafe or unroadworthy.
Just be sure your insurer is told.

The law may be different in Hungary.
Unfortunatelly yes. You can not even change the wheels to different one.
Every modificaton has to be designed by authorized engineer and approved by officials. Long and painfull process. Of course mamy cars are running with modifocations but it is up to the police officer if he cares or not. But for Mot you have to remove everything.

I've had Terrafirma before the Bilsteins and removed them after less than 3 years cos all were fully rusted and softened... also had TF braided brake hoses and one of them failed just after it went out of warranty... my choice is to not touch any of theyr's products again

I have Billstein shocks all around(after i tried few other types) and i highly recommend them
Thanks Fery!
Are there also different types (ACE, No ACE, ....) like in case of genuine ones? I have seen only one type on the net.

Yes, mine is on standard height and wheels (ACE + SLS) the springs were replaced about 5 years ago and IIRC they were some OEM(not genuine LR), i can't remember the brand but dedicated for winch REB000490

I bought mine with Terrafirma shocks and so far they they clean up well with no rust and have been fine, in fact with the massive anti-roll bar fitted when the ACE was removed, the ride and handling is pretty good with minimal roll. But I note sierrafery's experience with them and will plan on replacing them in the not too distant future. I hear excellent things about Old Man Emu.

That is the other reason why I need to do something, modify it back or do it right. Today have checked the lenght of the break line and found this while lifting but the wheel was still on the ground. The break line seems to be the original one. I guess it should have been changed as well. I am lucky not to break it yet while lifting or offroading...
