Will soon be taking off the timing belt housing to fix a leak (right back to engine). Want to make a good job of the seal around the back of water pump and by the ladder rack. Which RTV would you recommend please. In the past I have used the old blue hylomar for anything to do with water and red for the rest, but on various posts folks seem to use a black one for everything!

I used tiger seal when I redone the water pump and housing i.e. P gasket .. Been over 18 months and no leaks . It's also cured leaks round window frame and the joint between the top and bottom tub

I used blue hylomar for mine all around the timing cover and lightly on each side of the water pump gasket. No leaks and easy to clean it off.

I've tried a lot of sealants in the past and my three favorites are Dirko or Locktite 5910 which is a little pricey but comes in a very handy self dispensing bottle both give more f an adhesive type seal. Blue Hylomar always seems to do well with paper gaskets.

Blue hylomar is really good stuff, very light coat on every surface, ie gasket and the face that side of the gasket is going to touch.
