I am seriously considering a PSI power box and paddocks have them at £275 +VAT. Only problem is they list them as 1995 - 1999 or 2000-2001. My P38 is Oct 1999 so which box do I need? 1995 - 1999 or 2000 - 2001 bearing in mind my P38 is not the some electronically as the 1995 model. Anyone know?

IMO a risky process on an old ECU and not easily reversable if the need arises.

Superchips and Evolution fit an IC socket and give you your old chip back, I have considered that course of action. I would not go for a remap where they piggyback a chip onto the old one in any case.

yes, thats a fair point. I did get a spare working ECU of ebay (£20) before I embarked on the exercise.
installing the new chip proved pretty easy in this case: the chip is just push in. no soldering required. [although I would have happily soldered too, given I had the backup ECU]
