I believe the MOT is going to insist that if a CAT was fitted at manufacture, it will fail MOT if it's no longer there. I would check this before spending your money - or be prepared to put the CAT back once a year!
 
Ill let you know in a month n a bit, decatted mine before the change, MOT due in June.
woudnt care but it got a cleaner pass last year without the cat than it did the year before with...
