Which is the best? or whats the differance between:

GLASS? - Found this one and its £35.
CRAG? - Couldnt find this one.
TRF? - and found this one.

Thanks lads.

i joined Glass years back and was dissapointed payed my money went to local meet and there seemed to be no view to try and save lanes just moaning about them. I vowed never to join again. I wanted to do my bit to keep lanes opeen and fight for the rights of us motorists but I was very dissapointed. It may have changed or be different else where in the country. This was a few years back now.

I would go with TRF/crag personally.

we went to a GLASS meet a few years back... we were the only people who turned up.

Waited an hour, got bored, set off home and stumpled upon a P&P site... and had an aswesome day.

Anyway, i digress - what are you after from GLASS / CRAG / TRF

The war is over - they lost in 2006, when the NERC act came into law. GLASS et al should have coherently opposed this to prevent it happening, but were not organised enough to do so. So they're no good at representation and campaigning.

Their only other valid task is be guardians of information on green lane use/info. But with the widespread use of the internet, this is becoming less of an issue for everyone. Also, they have failed to do this adequately on occasion. Look at Walna Scar - a case of not crossing the t's or dotting the i's adequately here.

Take away those two pillars, and you're left with a social club. By all means if you want to join a social club to do some green laning, then hand over your £35.

Basically was advised to register on trialwise to highlight some lanes in my area but you need to be part of an organiseation.

You can use Trailwise free of charge but it searches a much more limited area and you don't get the detail info on some lanes. I don't have an account so I don't know how much detail you're missing out on. But there's also Wayfinder Project - the national catalogue of Rights of Way which does have detail text from users who've driven the lanes; and for the more popular ones a google search often brings up bits & bobs. Whether this is enough to go on, or you want more info before you drive a lane, I don't know? People who've joined GLASS/CRAG/TRF etc and are active (ie will reply or post on forums) tend to try to justify their membership fees so it might not be an unbiased opinion.

If ya the member of a ARLC or a response forum yu can get full access :) if ya wanna do summat concstructive join CRAG. At least they go out and repair lanes etc. TRF is mainly trial bike riders.
