Some advice - I need to replace a front diff on my 1985 90 N/A and would like to know which diffs I could look out for second hand (from what landrover/year?)

any help appreciated. cheers.

any 10 spline 3.54 rover diff ,from disco rrc or defender front or rear, disco change to 24 spline around 92, defender when 300tdi came out 94

thanks for the reply and info - apologies for late response, BT have just decided that after 5 years we live too far from the exchange and cut off broadband - now have to travel 7 miles to get a connection! aint life grand...

Want to take a spare diff with me on a long trip. My 90 is a very late 200tdi with chassis after LA930000 so told diff is 24 spline. My question is - is a discovery 24 spline exactly the same as mine so I can buy one of these without any alterations and also is the front and back diffs interchangeable ie identical. Also what does 3 and 4 bolt mean.

In addition to the above question can I also ask if the round rear bottom supports for the springs securing them to the axle from Paddocks are ok or are there alternatives that are better. These have failed the MOT - now in process of taking back body off to weld chassis around the spring tops etc

Only one way to be sure what's in your bus and that is to whip out a shaft and count the splines.Disco one's will fit.The spring plate's are bolted to a bracket[weld on] on the axle, you can get replacements for both.

Thanks tottot - did not realise plates bolted to bracket - these have now been ordered from MPS Trading. Yes could take it out but taking two Defenders on the trip and just wondering if a 24 spline diff will fit front and rear of the 90 and also front of the 300tdi 110 we are taking. Want to buy the spare diff from a D1 as they are more plentiful but will they fit - understand it has to be 4 bolt. Have spare half shafts already loaded on 110 - will these fit the rear of the 90.

Like I said only one way to know for sure, on a 20 year plus landy you just don't know what others have done in the past unless you have owned it all that time. Not sure what you mean by 4 bolt unless it's the flange to drive shaft then yes, disco rear diff has a 3 bolt flange for the rubber dohnut. 110 rear shaft's will not fit 90.

Thanks again - will do this - though only one estate owner before me so unlikely messed about with - may also do this on 110 as my spare rear driveshafts have 24 at one end and 10 at the other - and I understood drive flanges of this era were 24.
Am somewhat east of you!!. And well retired.

Yes its the drive flange end on the hub that changed to 24 spline. Most 110's have salisbury axle's on the rear not rover, parts not interchangeable.
