Hi

Looking for advice on a diagnostic tool for Freelander 2 TD4 (2006 onwards)

Foxwell NT530
iCarsoft i930
Icarsoft LR V2 / V3

The above seem to be market leaders, all sub £200 which seems reasonable enough for casual checking of codes when looking for a "new" (used) landy, post-purchase review of error codes with a view to resolving anything I can resolve or taking to a garage for inspection/service.

And a question - are any of these re-programmable, ie can be used between marques with a software upgrade (I have a 6 series BMW)

Anyone any experience, advice?

I have used my iCarsoft i930 on two FL1 TD4's and a Jaguar XF. All worked well, except I could never get it to talk to the Jatco in the FL1's.

I have an Autel AP200.

Looks to work well enough. Have programmed a couple of keys/remotes to the car OK with it.

I think that depends on the year. My son has a mate up in Bedford that does key programming. They had to dig a little to find the correct fobs & key for his 2004 TD4, but got it sorted in the end.

I have an icarsoft i930 for my Td4 and Td5, it has not given me any problems reading what's going on with both cars yet! But, if I need an in depth over view? I will pop round to my friends garage? (But not needed to as yet).

Geezer has an F2.

I believe that if I plug the AP200 in to my L Series, it will laugh at me and the screen will say "Yeh Right" ;)

This…? I didn’t think these little Bluetooth things could program keys?

I found the iCarsoft naff on a F1, compared to something like Pscan. It hardly connected to anything.
I have no idea on an F2 - Pscan won’t work on that.

Yes I know Pscan works better, but can't justify one right now.

Looking at those other devices, at least it's clear JLR & diag vendors are making it easier for the tea leaves to create their own keys !!

I have the Foxwell NT530 for my FL1 & D2 TD5 & it does a good on both (has SD card slot for recording live data) & paid for itself 10 fold. I got mine with the dedicated JLR software (you can add upto 4 other manufacturers before you have to delete one). Not sure what it can do on the FL2 but it also worked great on a neighbours 2009 Jag XF. Foxwells website has a list of what it can do on various models.
