Hi , facelift td4 , drivers side rear wheel arch , remove wheel , located on a tray together with fuel pump there is a thread covering removal on ere !

Is it a facelift model (post 2003), or have I missed something here...?

If it's a pre-facelift Td4, upto early-ish 2002, it's in the engine bay on the passenger side. Sort of behind the battery in a cylindrical black plastic housing. It's mounted vertically and you can see the fuel pipe head which screws onto the top of the filter. It's pretty big too so you should spot it!

It's also got the low-pressure fuel pump in another cylindrical housing behind it. The whole lot comes forward once you've worked out where the clamping screw is. It's quite well hidden...

You have to unclip and remove the fuel supply pipes into the and out of the fuel filter head as well to be able to get the filter out.

Well I don't know whether it's a facelift one or not.

I was assuming, perhaps wrongly, that it was, as the OP couldn't find the fuel filter - it is rather obvious on the earlier model as you say.

He may even now be searching under the rear wheel arch and find ...... nothing there!

or even looking under the passenger side footwell carpet :D

Good old LR moving them about, eh?

All available data points to my chassis number being a later 2002 model and having a thinner wheel-arch mounted filter, when it's actually the "dustbin" sized one mounted under the bonnet as I described. Several parts manufacturers, including LR, believe my chassis number falls into the "later" category. Must be just on the cusp, I guess.
