Hi...53 plate Freelander TD4 Sport Premium 5 door..got one of these that needs a wee bit of hifi love....has a harman kardon system installed ...but has a blown sub in the boot & next to no sound on the right channel....was hoping to check out the amp but can't find it...it's not under the seats...
Also was going to source a replacement for the 6" sub if anyone knows of a suitable equivalent....any help most welcome

i would suggest it's been half inched. I've got a 2004 Sport Premium and my amp is under the passenger seat. Is there maybe a cable hanging there where it would have been?

the only difference pre and post FL is that in pre-Facelift there was a CD change under the driver seat, whereas post-FL with FL5 head unit, the change is in the head unit.

(FWIW, my sub speaker isn't blown, but it's fKn rubbish. I thought the HK stuff was going to be far better than it has turned out to be.)

my 2006 hse auto the multi player is under the drivers seat amp under passenger seat
the problem with you speakers may be the wiring to them , when I brought this car only one speaker was playing and Stratstones had it in and renewed the wiring and they said it was the rubbish wiring from china ,when it was British made they had no problems, just try cleaning the end terminals

Nope the HK sub is pants. That's why I installed a 10" sub in my cubby.
The HK amp is or should be under the passenger seat.

As my HK sub was duff, I removed it and use the fish tank for storage.
I still have the amp but running a Kenwood head unit. Sound is okay, but I guess would be better with a sub. I prefer having the storage.

fyi, if you want a HK amp then I have one that came out of my previous 2003 V6 ES Premium (see my sig!). it should fit if you still have the cabling in place and comes with the brackets to attach to under passenger seat.

thanks to all....found it mounted under the passenger seat...was expecting it to be on the floor.

Hi there guys I have a 2004 Land Rover Freelander premium Sport and it had an aftermarket Sony stereo and an amp in the boot but the Harman Kardon plug has been through wired or patched I have removed the stereo and replace with a standard Landrover head unit I have removed the amp from the boot and I have removed the patch wires and plug to harden Kardon back in after doing all this I have no sound but cannot find out why I have looked for a fuse I've looked at the wires and there has been no wires cut and also possibly a missing relay I hope somebody can help me with this because it's driving me nuts thanks Tony

I'm curious as to why you would remove a potentially good aftermarket stereo and replace is with the below average standard unit.

There's no relay in the standard setup. Just an amp and a head unit.
Are all the speaker wires intact?

Hi the speakers were really tinny sounding with the Sony unit and amp base speaker in the boot....
I'm just putting it back to standard....
But none of the speakers work ! I've checked the wires from the stereo to the amp under neath the passanger seat and there's no breaks....
I've seen on fix it . Com there's a relay so it says ?... Tony

Hi thanks for your reply this evening I have removed the door card speaker and tested with a another people that I know works and got no sound I haven't got the stereo wires from the back of the stereo and tested which worked up until you get to the amp I have then tested the wires from the amp to the speakers and they don't work so all I can think is the amp isn't getting power so that it powers up I now need to find out which wire provides power and a diagram of the wiring loom for the hardon Kardon amp...... on a cycle fixing it still says about a relay under or near the glove box..... Tony

In case you don't have them here's the HK Audio system diagrams, etc:

@Nodge68 what do you think the biggest sub I could fit in the HK sub box?

I want the original setup but with products/parts that work well :p

Have you checked the driver isn't damaged? They normally are, in which case a suitable 6 ½" replacement, which I've linked on here many times.;)

My search of the forum only bought this post up. Any suggestions on that brand? ;)
