i've thoroughly searched the forum and cant really find the info i need.

i've sold my 90 but i need to get the mot done. it just failed on faulty rear side lamp faulty fog lamp and faulty main beam.

prior to the mot i was messing with the fog light, bulb ok, switch ok, so it must be wiring.

and my main beam only works drivers side, i changed the lamp but that didnt work either so again must be wiring.

the side lamp is a pain as well. the brake light works but the rear light doesn't, i have changed the bulb

i've got until 2 pm tomorrow for a retest so i was thinking of just running new lives to the offending lights and just get them working

my problem is although i understand electrics i have not done much automotive. do i take the lives from the fuse board, i can work that out buy removing the fuses one by one until i find the right fuse (i dont have the fuse box cover so dont know which is which)

if i dont take the lives from the fuse board then where do i

could i daisy chain the main beam of off the drivers side one that is working

any help most appreciated

No don't daisy chain them - will halve the brightness

You also can't direct wire the fig light, as it has to only work when dipped headlamps are on to pass MoT

To be honest sounds like you have some earth faults (or chaffed wires) you need to find

First thing id check is whether you actually have voltage at the light units themselves. As you might only have dirty/corroded contacts.

Get a voltmeter and test the contacts where the bulbs fit to, obviously with the circuit switch on. You might need to scratch the contact with the voltmeter probe to get a reading. If the reading really is zero, then yes, looks like faulty switches or chaffed wires etc. If you do get a voltage, then clean upnthe terminals with some emery paper or small file and some contact cleaner if you have some.
