Does anyone know where the 6 cylinder 2625cc engine number is located?

None of the books I have give a location, a quick Google search says it should be on the block at the front left of the engine. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow to see if I can confirm this (I may need to clean some of the filth off of it to find it...).

Thanks for this. My engine is fairly clean, but I can't see anything looking from above. The only numbers I see are not engine numbers as they don't match the expected start numbers.

IIRC it is on side of engine near front of exhaust manifold
