hi
I have just fallen heir to a 200tdi disco that failed its MOT due to corrossion on chassis and body it has an excellent engine and recon box which I could transplant to another vehicle

which would be the easiest option I was thinking of a low mileage petrol disco or defender

any suggestions would be welcome and what would the problems be

regards Mark

Either vehicle but if it had a claped out (over heated) 200tdi in it already and the body etc was in good condition that would be half the battle won.

Buy an angle grinder and a welder! I did! I have just got a scrap 200tdi through an mot, it had a great engine chassis gearbox, BUT it also had no boot floor or rear valence or front arches, Cut loads of patches from sheet steel a guy from a local disco breakers cut me out a complete boot floor to fit the arch to arch hole i had, and it took me about a week to do! And had only stick welded before on the farm! So had to learn to mig weld at the same time!! I now have rejuvinated as new lol 200tdi all in all cost from scrap to roadworthy including the mot 600 quid!! You know you want too...............One life DO IT!!!!!

I have to aggree with JPS here, old Disco's never die:D they just wait for the opperation and off they go again.
On the serious side, transplanting the running gear of a Disco to another vehicle will entail more work than repairing your old wreck, time to get welding.:amen:
