I'm starting to make a shopping/wish list (mainly wish) for parts/accessories and the like for me new landy and was wondering where you all get your stuff/would recommend... Been looking at Paddock Spares, Rimmerbros, Britpart... Ebay for a few things... Anywhere else I can have a gander?

Need to get sensible things first like a dog guard and some bench seats, cubby box, load space mat/protection (stop the hound sliding about)... And obviously security stuff...

Thanks :)

ebay for everything, ideally 2nd hand

+1
You'll soon get to know what should be new and where you can get away with second user parts.
Most members seem to say avoid Britparts. There a few threads on the forum which say what you can get away with from them.

I used to get everything off ebay second hand for my old 90 - this one is spangly new so i'm looking to get all the bits and pieces new... at least until i've knackered it and don't care anymore :)

bearmach, theres 2 near me Caerphilly and swansea, swansea is 20 mins away ,parts are reasonably priced and decent quality ,if your new to landys avoid things in blue boxes

If I just want something cheap and quick I tend to buy stuff from Paddocks. On the other hand LR Direct offers you a choice of brands where available and you can avoid the dreaded Britpart. It's also good for all the little fiddly bits like trim clips, little plastic nut inserts, fir tree clips and the like which you need for putting the interior together. Generally the best thing is to identify the part number, put it in Google and see who's got it cheapest.

thank you :) I will look into LR Direct :)

List so far...

First off:
Pedal lock
Disklock
Another alarm/tracker
Parking post for drive
Dog guard
Bench seats
load space protection
cubby

Then:
lamp guards
steering guard/bars
wading kit
towing kit
towing gear
side runners
rear step (i'm small)
light bar/spots
snorkel

and I really want a roof rack and tent for going rough camping :)

Usually use lrdirect or totalparts

Both offer a range of suppliers, and sometimes one has items the other hasnt

But also still use paddocks, rimmers, Craddocks for some things the other two don't carry

I used paddocks for my full rebuild project
Not a problem with them and all parts are ok, and usually they're the cheapest

Thanks everyone... Will take me a long time to get everything that I want... Might start doing the lottery :-/

Foundry 4x4 is near to where I work & a good bunch of lads work there, I'm only 20 mins from Bearmach Caerphilly also.

I mainly get all my bit's from paddocks but if i am desperate i will use land ranger, stockport as they are just down the road from me but are twice as expensive than paddocks though :(

I think you're spoiling your dog with bench seating, how about two pairs of child's welly boots bonded to the floor so the dog just stands there..? Would also save buying a dog guard :)

Land Rover Parts | Range Rover Spares - Accessories | Paddock Are good on price and the vast range of stock they carry. But beware the dreaded Britpart.
Quality Land Rover Parts Spares and Accessories Online Are pretty good plus they are an easy way to find part numbers for ---->
Land Rover Parts and Spares Direct who have keen pricing and you can choose the part manufacturer which is important for critical bits.
Other than that I use my local independent who doesn't carry a great deal of stock but can usually get what I need next day. He largely gets Allmakes parts which seem a step up from Britpart but can also get OEM and genuine stuff too.

:D wellies for the hound...that's an amazing idea!!!

My old 90 didn't have any seats in the back and family complained when I slung them in the back for a smooth ride over the Dales... i've been told to at least try to make this one reasonable

i also use lrdirect or totalparts as they give you the option of different manufacturers

but for the pedal box i would recommend the x engineering one (who have now been taken over by foundry4x4) - you can also get them on ebay

i think they fit all up to TD5 (not puma)

but i do like stainless :)

X Defend Pedal Lock for Land Rover Defender

I had x-eng stuff on my last 90... They don't make a pedal lock that fits the new defender yet so need to get something else until they do...

:)
