Does anyone know what tyres will fit on a swb series 3 without causing any problems with catching / rubbing.
I'm looking at a set of 31x10.5r15 on 8 spokes.
Any advise would be kindly received

Can't see a problem with that size. A lot depends on the wheel's offset, as to whether the tyres will rub the springs and if you have to limit the steering lock to avoid them rubbing.
I tried 235/85R16 Insa special tracks on Disco 1 steels, they rubbed the rear part of the front springs very slightly with just the knobbly bit of the tread on full lock, so the stops would need adjusting slightly.
I also fitted a 9.00x16 on a Forward control rim which is a mahusive tyre, they didn't rub at all, but I think the front of the front wings would need a trim to allow for off-road use.

i have 30 10 15 fitted on my series3 swb no problem with them rubbing or catching springs ect but you would be wise to check the speedo mph will be out

one other little problem and im working on it or its in the pipe line for next job and thats putting wheel spats or mud wings if thats what you want to call them when its raining the tyres tend to throw a lot of spray out,

Update on fitting 9.00 x 16 to a Series III. Fitted Michel XL's on 6.5j Snatch Land Rover Rims. Boy do they rub. Had to trim the front headlight panels by about 1 1/2", the front of the wings too, the bottom section of the front bumper as well. Had to adjust steering stops slightly to stop tyres rubbing springs. Rears rub the body panel, but only slightly. Am fitting 1 Ton shackles, so hope body mods won't be necessary on the rear.
Is it worth it? You bet, it looks the nuts and is pretty much unstoppable off-road.
