So I have an 06 Defender 90 with the original steel wheels.

I want to put some boost alloys and better tyres on - from eBay of course. Will my existing wheels studs be long enough or will I need to replace the studs? Any advice gratefully received.

Not sure, however I think you will also need a full set of wheel nuts as the seat taper angle is different between steel and alloy wheels

If it is the one in your profile picture I would fit HD (wolf) wheels if you wanted the larger tyres and a wider wheel. As a utility I think it will look better on steels than on alloys but that is personal preference (I am not a fan of alloys at all really!)

I am sure you will need a set of wheel nuts, as said above, but you should be able to fit them to your axle without changing anything else. It is usually the drive flange that is the problem converting from steel to alloy rather than the studs. But being an '06 model it will have the thinner drive flanges anyway.

Agree entirely. Steels, either standard or Wolf, are much better on a utility vehicle.
