Hi to you all.
I am now the happy owner of a 1996 P registered Range Rover 2.5 DT & loveing every second of driveing her BUT..........
I need to replace the drivers side FRONT WHEEL BEARING which i got with the Range Rover.
Question is.....Im of the understanding that the bearing has to be pressed in and cant be done by a weekend d.i.y mechanic like myself SO i went to get a price and the local mechanic told me that he could not give a price untill it was stripped down AS IT MAY BE A WHEEL BEARING AND HUB COMBINED
But as i said i have a wheel bearing so could it be wrong and i need to buy the wheel bearing and a hub assembly together????
All info on this matter will gladly be taken on board AND ALSO what kind of price to be looking out for.
Many thanks.
Tony.

The bearing hub are seperate. But you will need at least a twenty ton press to change it.

It is not unusual in my experience for the hub and bearing to be replaced as an assembly, but as Wammers says it can be done as long as you have the 20ton press.

these can be a bastard to do as said you need a good press and some times a gas torch to heat it up while pressing the hub apart,it might be easier to buy a compleate hub from e-bay and fit it yourself should take about 1-2 hours,a used hub is about 50-60 quid new 250ish,try the sponsor of this forum he should have a good used one
