So today i set about changing a few wheel bearings as they were advisories on my mot....

The inner bearing had collapsed and there was no grease at all in sight on the first one i tried, then it wouldnt go back on... I rang paul D for advise but afterwards noticed that the inner part of the bearing is stuck on the stub axle....

How do i go about getting this off??

not inner race, they came out good.. its the bearing shell lol...

I did start grinding in the rain ill finish it tomorrow and hope that the radius arm bushes arnt a bitch tomorrow or the other 2 bearings.

Your picturing it sat in the hub, its stuck on the stub axle.... I put everything back together and slid the hub on and i couldnt understand why it wouldnt go that little bit further... then i realised its because the #### is still on the stub itself... If i haven't got a pic on my phone now ill go take one in the lovely rain. gimme 10

first two are a couple pics i took at the start..

bottom one probably needs zooming in on. the part thats started rusting slightly is there i started grinding earlier

Will sort that tomorrow cheers james.

Spent a while swearing at it this morning.

Glad mot bloke pointed it out because 3 are on the way out.

It's not the end of the world if you can't remove it without damaging the stub axle - they are pretty cheap. I had to replace a stub on mine because the collapsed bearing had damaged the surface so badly that I couldn't put a new bearing on - from memory I think it was about £20.00.

Tried to get it off today then looked on paddocks site. They close at 1 and it was 12:45 so if have got there about 1 so set off.. Ended up behind every Sunday driver possible so turned home in anger... Other side the calliper bolts are rounded so i dunno how there coming out....

12 mm bihex socket smacked on with a big hammer does the trick, been there done that.

I did that with my halfords 12mm but it did the same.. spun off...

Ill have another go tomorrow but the rain these past two days has been a big downer!!

Atlas the radius arm bushes went alright... just gotta get them back on and get the rest of this ****e sorted for some snow!! thanks for everyones help

I've been stuck with the same before, In the end I split the caliper in half so I could get the hub off.
Not ideal and had to re-bleed the brakes but it did the job.
Didn't have a welder at the time either or I'd have tried welding another nut on.

what kind of things will i find if i split the caliper? Seals ect?

Ive got a spare drivers caliber somewhere but really i don't wanna entertain that way.

Ill get the propane torch on it tomorrow with a bi hex 12mm knocked onto it, if not the grinder may have to come out...
