When Land Rover sold Defender 90 300tdi's new in the Uk, what were the different wheel and tire options available? What tires are generally thought to be best suited to these, for say 50/50 on-road/ off-road use. Any thoughts would be great. Cheers.

most are fitted with general grabber tr now i think but there seems to be quite a lot on ebay so not sure how good they are.

standard steels or freestyle alloys.

dont know about tyres. Michelin XPC's prehaps? General Grabbers are fitted to the newer ones, not sure about 300's. these are 235/85s the replacement for earlier 7.50s.

Thanks for the replies. Any ideas if 205/80R16 were standard?

On a discovery yes but not defenders, 205/80 is only about 29" dia and 235/85 is closer to 32"

Do the 235 tires fit the same steel rims that the 205/80R16's are on?

I thought the standard 7.50 R16 tyres were Goodyear Wranglers?
