Have just become the proud owner of a 1989 Land Rover 90 in need of a little TLC. The first job I tackled was to replace the nearside track rod end. Simple enough job, or so I thought. Anyway, after spending 2 hours bashing it, oiling it, burning it, and bashing it some more, I could not get it to unscrew so decided to remove the bar from the drop arm ball joint.
Well..... not so easy either, it may as well have been welded on, and by this time, I split the rubber on the ball joint, so decided to get the angle grinder out
In my rage, I have taken a few chunks out of the rod, so think I need to replace it. My 90 is mainly going to be used for offroad use, so it would make sense to replace it with a heavy duty version.
Can somebody tell me what bits I need? I have seen these PM960 Heavy Duty Steering Rods for all Defender inc Ball Joints, but not sure what other bits I will need are. Basically I need everything from the drop arm across to the nearside hub.
