hello......
on a double cab 130.....
under the rear seats there is a large lid with
a clip at each door end....
i can get my fat fingers under the seats to pop the clips
and move the large thin lid...but cant see in....

the front lower mounts of the seats looks hinged to
pivet/move forward..but the back/rear of the seats is all bolted up...
so having a good look at it/get to is a mission..

anybody know what all that is about / for....?

If I remember I think it's a storage locker. You should be able to open it without dismantling the rear seat unit.

Have you got standard LR seats fitted?
My Defender has the battery under the passenger seat and the engine ECU under the driver seat. Both seat bases just pull upwards and off to access.

Oooops. Just re-read the OP and its rear seats you're on about - not the fronts.
My 90 dont have any rear seats so cant help.

thats what i thought crg54...
but its not very "user friendly" acces if it is.....

On my old one the locker was quiet easy to access as the seat base just lifted out. Don't know if this has changed on newer models.

If the seats are standard it could be a sort of throw back from the older models. The same as they still have the indents for the flaps and no flaps under the windscreen. Just a guess though and it seems strange they went to the trouble of putting a lid on it if you can't get to it.

Hi Meatsack,

What model year is your vehicle? I can see if we have a record on our systems of anything being under the rear seats on this model from manufacture.

Nicola

Hi meatsack,

I've checked our systems and I don't have any record of what you've described on a Defender DC 130 HCPU of your model year. This would suggest that this is possibly an accessory or feature which has been fitted after manufacture.

Sorry that I couldn't advise what this is and I hope you have success in finding out, a Land Rover Franchise dealer may be able to advise you further.

Regards

Nicola

are yu saying that Landrover dont know what it is - cant even say its a "wigit pn amr4567" but no records of one on your model? or that LR cant identify it but a dealer might?

steps in the right direction at least....
just had another look.....
and it is all pretty inaccessible as it is....
bolted down tight on the back...but hinged on front....
its a shame as its a large area in there....
just had a kid investigate it with its scrawny arm....
