Hi all, Im new here but have been a long time lurker. Some great advise and people on here so hopefully I will be able to learn even more now I have joined and can ask questions.

I have just taken the plunge and purchased a Range Rover. It’s a near as mint & unchanged from factory (not even a 2000 light upgrade) 1997 Niagra Grey 4.6 HSE with the light stone (cream) leather & black piping and HK Stereo system. It has done 89000 miles, FSH and has been religiously looked after (couldn't find as much as a scratch to knock the dealer down on price). I just hope the £2999 I have paid was not too much. The prices are all over the place right now.....

Anyway as the title states, what’s special about a Limited Edition????
The reason I ask is that on the database, my reg is logged as a 1997 4.6 LTD Edit, not simply a HSE?

Now as far as I am aware LTD Edit would mean Limited Edition. But what is so special about it or is there nothing at all. But then if that’s the case, why did they even create this Limited Edition?????

It’s badged as a HSE on the tailgate and as far as I can see there is no reference on the car to a Limited Edition????

Is this common? Sorry if this is a typical newbie question.......

I have not seen many Niagra Grey P38's about, maybe that is the limited factor?
The leather seats also have seven vertical seams on the seat bottoms and seven vertical and two horizontal seams on the seat backs as per 1998 spec, maybe they were fitted earlier as part of the Limited Edition?? Just ideas……..

limited editions are usually the manufacturers way of offloading end of line cars just before a new model or upgrade comes out, so they bang a couple of extras on that no one wants, it's usually a colour that no one wants but they sprayed a load up anyway and bang a limited edition badge on it.:rolleyes:
i had a 98 vogue aniversary that had **** loads of extras and a crap colour:D
 
the ford fiesta "classic" made me chuckle- talk about polishing a Turd.

Back to the tread, Like the others say I'm guessing the colour wasn't Popular or some other makes the Dealers did their own sub models.

By this my mates Toyota dealership did a corolla with different wheels and aircon-Dealer authorised limited edition
 
I actually quite like the colour its a graphite black....... Whats wrong with that?????

Bloody miles better than the god awful green :puke: (no one wants them, autotrader is full of em, cos they don't sell) then there is the old man burgundy :puke: , 80's camp turquoise, dated white that does nothing other than get dirty an hour after washing and shows up every inch of black plastic trim as does the silver paint job!

Besides, I would hardly say 1997 was just before a new model, there were only a few subtle changes to the interior in 1998 but mine has them anyway?

nothing mean intended, tis all true, if i hadn't got my car at a real good price i would have paid more for a decent colour and less pointless crap that goes wrong for laughs
 
i got one of them god awfull green ones and i like it no i love it and i went out to buy one best colour range rover MADE now you upset me WELCOME
 
If you're talking about the Vogue 50 Atlantis Blue that changes to green as the light changes, I'm with you on this one J. I have one as well. Bought it for the colour. Never tire of looking at it. Most definitely is the best colour they ever made, and that includes the new ones.
 
i have ****ty green and undercost paint job, the undercoat shines through where i have used it for its intended purpose!!

i fink we upset him fellas! but welcome!
 
i thought about getting paint job on mine only to find dulux dont do flip paint and you dont get a dog to help you what a bummer
 
I think from 2000 onwards, they stopped selling the HSE, and the top spec from then on was the Vogue SE.

Possible the last ones made were all badged "Ltd Edition", as I have one as well, but can't find the difference.

You, Sir, have a totally wrong idea, how limited edition models where conceived.

@Jarson1975 You may not get a reply from this person, 2015 was the last time they were on. Some people come and go like the tide and some stay and become part of the community whether they add to it or not. Experienced or not. But dont take the moral high ground, for the fear of sticking your head over the trench.. You may get shot at.. Take no offense either, if you know your stuff we can benefit from that with appreciation. ;)

Awww Mark. Sometimes, your posts make me think there might be hope for the human race after all. Then I remember I just thought 'what a Richard' , and realise there is no hope
